Ahead of time: The Story Behind Musee Art Cafe & KalaCUBE

A Home for Artists

Challenges in business are a given, but it's our response to them that defines our trajectory.

In 2019, we established what would become a home for artists in Dehradun. The approach was community-focused rather than purely commercial. We didn't want to build a cafe that happened to have art — we wanted to build an art community that happened to have a cafe.

The Numbers Speak

  • 600+ artists supported
  • 60,000+ artworks displayed
  • Hundreds of workshops, residencies, and exhibitions hosted

The Pivot That Saved Us

During the pandemic (2020-21), exhibitions shut down. Physical art spaces went dark. We had a choice: close the doors or evolve.

We chose evolution.

KalaCUBE was born — more than a marketplace, it functions as a digital portfolio and networking platform for creators. Artists who once needed physical wall space could now reach audiences worldwide.

The Calendar That Made Headlines

The 2025 Artist Calendar features works from Kaksh Villa, our artist retreat near Sahastradhara. The calendar exhibition attracted Dehradun's municipal leadership and regional dignitaries — a validation of what community-driven art can achieve.

What's Next

The Royale Celebration Lounge by Musee launches in 2025 — an elegant banquet and bar venue for artful events and celebrations.

We're proving that art and business can coexist. That community and commerce can fuel each other. And that being ahead of your time isn't a disadvantage — it's a strategy.
